LOST & FOUND IN DETROIT
LOST & FOUND IN DETROIT
I grew up on the outskirts of Detroit, never quite knowing much about the city, yet aware of my family's deep history within it. A Detroit resident and homeowner for a decade now, my work explores my desire to know and document the city, establish a home within it and sit with the fraught questions of history and race that continue to shape its evolving identity.
My work in Detroit spans from 2012 to the present day, encompassing the city's bankruptcy, its morphing architectural and social landscapes and the vibrancy and soul of the people who have long called it home. Lost & Found in Detroit provides a street-level view of a city that is often misunderstood, including admittedly, by myself.
